Destroying planets is only part of the fun in Solar Smash. Hidden among the game’s usual worlds are secret planets with unusual shapes, textures, and appearances. Some look like familiar objects, while others require you to complete specific challenges before they become available.

The interesting part is that these planets are not all unlocked in the same way. You might need to freeze Earth, stop a planet from exploding at precisely the right moment, reshape a world with the Grid tool, or experiment with the game’s more unusual weapons.

This guide focuses on the classic achievement-based unlock methods, including the original Snow Globe trick and other hidden planet challenges. Follow the steps carefully, especially when an achievement requires you to reset a planet before an attack finishes.

How Secret Planet Unlocks Work in Solar Smash

Most classic secret planet unlocks are connected to achievements. Once you complete the required task, the game registers the achievement and makes the associated planet or variant available.

Before attempting a challenge, remember three things:

  • Use the correct planet: Some achievements only work on Earth, Mars, Venus, or a particular secret world.
  • Watch the timing: A few challenges require you to reset a planet while it is in a particular state.
  • Check your progress: If the achievement does not appear, review the steps and try again.

You can usually find newly unlocked secret planets in the Unknown system. Planet variants, such as Cube Earth and Flat Earth, may appear in the relevant planet selection menu.

1. Pumpkin

The Pumpkin is one of the most recognisable secret planets in Solar Smash. Unlocking it requires careful timing rather than simply destroying Earth.

Achievement: Trick or Treat

  • Open Planet Smash and select Earth.
  • Choose the Planet Killer weapon.
  • Fire at Earth and watch its surface as the attack progresses.
  • Wait until the entire planet turns orange.
  • Reset Earth before it explodes completely.

The key is to reset at the right moment. Reset too early, and the required state may not have been reached. Wait too long, and Earth may explode before the achievement registers.

If your first attempt fails, repeat the process and pay closer attention to the planet’s colour.

2. Snowman

The Snowman is a secret planet that resembles a giant snowman. You can unlock it by completely freezing Earth.

Achievement: Ice Age

  • Select Earth in Planet Smash.
  • Equip the Freeze Ray.
  • Fire repeatedly across the planet.
  • Continue until the entire surface is covered in ice.
  • Check whether the Ice Age achievement appears.

Do not stop after freezing only the visible side. Move your aim around the planet to cover any remaining areas.

Once the achievement is complete, look for Snowman among the unlocked planets. You will need this planet for another secret unlock later in the guide.

3. Gingerbread Man

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG04

Gingerbread Man is another secret planet linked to a timed Planet Killer challenge. This time, you must use the Snowman rather than Earth.

Achievement: Gingerbread Man

  • Unlock Snowman by completing Ice Age.
  • Select Snowman in the planet menu.
  • Equip the Planet Killer.
  • Attack Snowman and watch its colour change.
  • Reset the planet while it is orange, before the explosion completes.

This challenge uses the same basic timing principle as Pumpkin. The important difference is the target: make sure you have selected Snowman before firing.

If you accidentally destroy the planet, simply restart the attempt.

4. Ghost World

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG05

Ghost World is associated with the Celestial Smite achievement, which requires you to destroy Earth using the game’s Celestial weapon.

Achievement: Celestial Smite

  • Open Planet Smash and select Earth.
  • Choose the Celestial weapon.
  • Use the weapon repeatedly against Earth until the planet is destroyed.
  • Avoid switching to other weapons during the attempt.
  • Check the achievement screen.

The challenge is to use the required weapon rather than relying on a combination of attacks. Once the achievement registers, Ghost World becomes available.

Ghost World can also be used for the Ghost Donut challenge, so keep it in mind when working through the remaining unlocks.

5. Waterworld

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG10

Waterworld has one of the more unusual unlock methods because it involves a custom planet and the Sun.

Achievement: Waterworld

  • Open the Custom Planet editor.
  • Create a custom planet, but leave its settings untouched.
  • Exit editing mode using the hammer icon.
  • Aim a laser at the Sun.
  • Wait for the Sun to go supernova and destroy the planet.

The important detail is to leave the custom planet unedited. Follow the sequence in order rather than changing the planet before exiting the editor.

After the supernova, check the achievement screen. If Waterworld has not unlocked, repeat the process and make sure you did not accidentally alter the custom planet.

6. Snow Globe in the Classic Version

Snow Globe is a secret planet with a festive appearance. In the classic version, its unlock method involves presents and Snowballs.

Achievement: Snow Globe!

  • Select Earth in Planet Smash.
  • Use the weapon that launches presents to scatter them across the planet.
  • Continue until you have created enough presents for the challenge.
  • Switch to the Snowball weapon.
  • Hit the presents to open them.
  • Check whether the Snow Globe achievement appears.

This is a different approach from the Machine World method used in later versions. If you are playing an older build, try the present-opening sequence first.

Be patient when placing the presents. If the achievement does not register, continue working through the challenge rather than assuming that one or two presents will be enough.

7. Blockworld

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG06

Blockworld transforms the familiar Earth-like world into a blocky planet. To unlock it, you first need to create a cube-shaped Earth.

Achievement: Block World

  • Select Earth.
  • Open the Grid tool.
  • Adjust the X, Y, and Z sliders until Earth takes on a cube-like shape.
  • Remove the excess portions of the planet to create the intended shape.
  • Equip the Healing Missile.
  • Fire it at Cube Earth.
  • Reset while the healing effect is still active.

Make sure you are working with Cube Earth rather than the normal planet. The achievement depends on combining the correct planet shape with the Healing Missile.

Once unlocked, Blockworld should be available as a separate planet. Its blocky appearance makes it easy to distinguish from the standard Earth.

8. Cube Earth

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG07

Cube Earth is a planet variant created with the Grid tool.

Achievement: Cube Earth

  • Select Earth in Planet Smash.
  • Open the Grid controls.
  • Move all three sliders—X, Y, and Z—toward the middle.
  • Destroy the parts of Earth that extend outside the grid.
  • Continue until the planet has a cube-like shape.
  • Reset when the achievement’s required state has been reached.

The sliders control the shape of the area that remains. Adjust them gradually if you find it difficult to get a clean cube.

Cube Earth is also a useful prerequisite for Blockworld, so complete this challenge before attempting the Healing Missile method.

9. Flat Earth

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG08

Flat Earth is another shape-based secret. Instead of retaining a cube, you will flatten Earth into a disc.

Achievement: Flat Earth

  • Select Earth and open the Grid tool.
  • Move the X and Z sliders to their maximum positions.
  • Move the Y slider to its minimum position.
  • Destroy the material outside the selected area.
  • Reset once the flat shape has been created.

The goal is to remove the excess material while retaining a broad, flat disc. If the result still looks too thick, check the Y slider and adjust it before completing the challenge.

10. Cube Mars and Flat Mars

blog-image-SS_SP_ENG09

Cube Mars and Flat Mars use the same general methods as their Earth counterparts. The main difference is the planet you select.

For Cube Mars:

  • Select Mars.
  • Open the Grid tool.
  • Adjust all three sliders toward the middle.
  • Remove the material outside the grid.
  • Complete the challenge and check for the achievement.

For Flat Mars:

  • Select Mars and open the Grid tool.
  • Set X and Z to their maximum positions.
  • Set Y to its minimum position.
  • Remove the excess material.
  • Reset as required by the achievement.

These challenges are easier once you are comfortable using the Grid tool on Earth. Get familiar with how the sliders affect a planet before attempting the Mars variants.

11. Donut Earth and Ghost Donut

The donut-shaped variants require you to create a flat disc and then remove material from its centre.

For Donut Earth:

  • Select Earth.
  • Use the Grid tool to create a flat disc.
  • Remove material from the centre to form a hole.
  • Check the shape and reset to complete the challenge.

For Ghost Donut:

  • Unlock Ghost World through Celestial Smite.
  • Select Ghost World.
  • Use the Grid tool to flatten the planet.
  • Remove material from the middle to create the hole.
  • Reset as required.

The challenge is to create a recognisable ring shape rather than a disc with only a small dent. Work gradually and check the shape from different angles before finishing.

Tips for Unlocking Secret Planets Faster

You do not need to rush through every challenge. A methodical approach can save time, especially when the achievement depends on timing or a particular planet shape.

  • Complete prerequisite achievements first. Unlock Snowman before trying Gingerbread Man, and Ghost World before attempting Ghost Donut.
  • Use the Grid tool carefully. Make small adjustments and check the shape before removing more material.
  • Watch for colour changes. Pumpkin and Gingerbread Man require you to reset at the right moment.
  • Check achievements after each attempt. This helps you identify which challenges still need work.
  • Keep track of your unlocked planets. It is easy to overlook a newly available planet when switching between game modes.

Solar Smash rewards players who experiment with its weapons, planet editor, and unusual achievement conditions. Some secret planets are unlocked by freezing or reshaping a world, while others require precise timing or a less obvious sequence of actions.

Start with the simpler challenges, such as Cube Earth and Ice Age, before moving on to the more timing-sensitive unlocks. Once you have a few secret planets available, you can use them to complete additional achievements and discover even more variations.

If you enjoy experimenting with different weapons and planet shapes, playing Solar Smash on BlueStacks gives you a larger screen to work with and the convenience of mouse controls while you explore the game’s hidden content.
